This week began with some very brave Grade 1 students who received their immunizations with parent consent. We were very proud of how calm, respectful, and courageous they were throughout the process. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another and demonstrating such maturity during an important health milestone.
Our Grade 1 and 2 students also enjoyed an exciting field trip to Heritage Park Historical Village. Students had the opportunity to explore what communities looked like in the past and compare them to the communities we live in today. Through hands-on experiences, historical buildings, and interactive learning, students gained a deeper understanding of how transportation, homes, schools, and daily life have changed over time. It was a memorable day filled with curiosity and discovery.
In gymnastics, students continued to build their confidence, coordination, and strength as they progressed through a variety of stations using mats, trestles, and balancing equipment. Students challenged themselves to try new movements and showed perseverance as they practiced their skills. Many students were especially excited to have the opportunity to try the Canadian Climber, which quickly became a favorite activity. It has been wonderful to see students encouraging one another and celebrating personal successes.
Next week, students will begin one of the most anticipated activities of the year: Mission Impossible! During this exciting challenge, students must navigate through a series of stations and barriers while solving clues to uncover a missing code. This activity encourages teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance, and creativity, all while having a great deal of fun. We know students will be eager to take on the challenge.
As the weather continues to improve, we kindly remind families to send students prepared for outdoor learning and recess each day. Layers, appropriate footwear, and water bottles are always helpful as we spend more time being active outside.
Please also remember that our Spring Concert for Grade 4, 5, and 6 students is quickly approaching. We are looking forward to showcasing the hard work and talent of our Division 2 students. Please see the message below from Ms. Laney:
Good afternoon, EMJ families!
The time for the Division 2 Spring Concert is almost here! Grades 4–6 will be performing, so please save the date for Thursday, May 7. Students will have two performances that day: one in the morning and one in the evening. Please ensure that your child attends both concerts, as classmates rely on one another to perform specific parts. It can be very difficult for students to perform when classmates are absent.
Each performance will be approximately one hour long. The morning concert will begin at 9:00 a.m. After school, students will go home as usual and are welcome to return for the evening performance. The evening show will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Please arrive no earlier than 5:45 p.m. so teachers have time to prepare. Once students arrive, they will head to their classroom while families find a comfortable seat in the gym.
Please stay tuned for more information from your child’s teacher.
