Last week’s beautiful weather gave our students wonderful opportunities to take their learning outdoors. Several classes participated in Physical Education outside, enjoying the fresh air while building their fitness and teamwork skills. Other classes spent time learning on the land, observing the seasonal changes in nature and discussing how the environment shifts as we move closer to spring. Outdoor learning continues to be an important way for students to connect classroom learning to the world around them.

As we head into this week, we are expecting a quick change in the weather, with snow and colder temperatures arriving. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the weather, including warm coats, hats, mittens, boots, and snow pants so they can continue to enjoy outdoor learning and recess time comfortably and safely.

In the classroom, students have been busy with a variety of learning activities. Classes participated in learning connected to Black History Month, helping students build awareness and appreciation of important historical contributions and stories. Students have also been working on literacy skills through story sequencing, helping them strengthen their understanding of beginning, middle, and end, as well as cause and effect in storytelling. In math, students have been developing their skills with adding and subtracting decimals, building confidence and accuracy with these important number concepts.

Last week also included a fun Spirit Week to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Students showed great school spirit during Red and Pink Day, Fancy Day, and Heart Accessory Day. It was wonderful to see so many students participating and celebrating together.

Looking ahead, our Grade 4, 5, and 6 students will be participating in Alien Inline Skating this week. This is always an exciting opportunity for students to build balance, coordination, and confidence while trying something new. We know this will be a fun and memorable experience for many of our students.

As a reminder, please ensure all parking rules are being followed during drop-off and pick-up times. These rules are in place to help keep all students, families, and staff safe. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and respectful school community.

Thank you for your continued support.
