This week in our classroom was filled with creativity, problem-solving, and community connection. Students explored watercolor techniques, experimenting with blending, texture, and color to express their ideas artistically. Alongside this, we continued our work with algebraic thinking, where students practiced identifying patterns and representing them in different ways. A highlight of the week was our egg drop challenge, where students worked collaboratively to design and build devices to protect an egg from a high drop. The activity encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience. While not every egg survived, students had a great time testing their designs and learning from the experience — with only a few yolks left behind!

We also enjoyed our first school dance of the year, and it was wonderful to see so many students participating. The evening began with a sensory-friendly environment that allowed all students to feel comfortable and included, before transitioning into a lively dance party with music and lights. A sincere thank you goes out to our School Council for the time and energy dedicated to making this event so memorable for our students. We also appreciate the teachers who volunteered their evening to help supervise and ensure the event ran smoothly. Additionally, our Grade Six students showed great initiative by organizing a 50/50 draw and selling glow sticks, raising funds to support their upcoming outdoor school experience.

As we look ahead to February, we are excited about the many upcoming activities and opportunities for school spirit. Students are invited to participate in our spirit days: Pink and Red Day on February 9, Fancy Day on February 10, and Heart Accessory Day on February 11. Our next fun lunch will take place on February 19 featuring Little Caesars. Students in Grades 4–6 will also have the opportunity to participate in Alien Inline Skating from February 17–23, which is always an engaging and active experience. To round out the month, Grades 4–6 students will attend the Be Brave Hockey game on February 24, which promises to be an exciting community event.

Thank you for your continued support in helping make our classrooms and school such positive, engaging places for students to learn and grow. We look forward to another great week ahead.
