This week included some exciting learning and school activities. Our Grade 6 students worked on estimation skills through a fundraising activity for their upcoming outdoor camp—congratulations to our four very excited winners! Students also spent time writing about their future career aspirations and began introductory work with algebra concepts.

Due to a couple of days of indoor recess, time outside was limited; however, students made the most of it by participating in a variety of games and activities indoors. A big thank you to our School Council for generously providing all new students with EMJ t-shirts. Students are encouraged to wear them anytime, and especially on Fridays as we proudly show our school spirit.

Looking ahead, next week is a short week as Friday is a professional development day and there will be no school for students. On Thursday, we are excited to host our first school dance from 5:30–7:30 p.m. The first half hour will be sensory-friendly, and at 6:00 p.m. the lights will dim and the music will turn up. There will be pizza, glow sticks, and a 50/50 draw. The theme is red, pink, and white, so students are invited to dress in those colours to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day.

As a reminder, regular attendance is important for student success and helps students stay connected to classroom learning and routines. If your child is sick or has an appointment, please notify the main office by phone or email. Thank you, as always, for your continued support—we are looking forward to another great week ahead!
