As we approach the final week of the school year, our school has been busy celebrating learning, culture, and many special milestones.
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jackie Soppit, a professional dancer and founder of Wandering Spirit, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and promoting intercultural awareness and respect for Indigenous cultures. As part of our recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, Jackie shared her knowledge, talent, and passion with our students and staff. She performed a beautiful Jingle Dance and taught our Division 1 students about Hoop Dancing, including an opportunity for students to participate and learn some basic movements. Jackie brought incredible energy, knowledge, and skill to our school, and her presentation was enjoyed by all. She even invited several staff members to try hoop dancing, which provided some memorable moments and lots of smiles!
Our Grade 2 and 3 students also said goodbye to our ducklings this week as they were ready to move on to their next adventure. Before they left, students enjoyed our annual Duck Walk, where the ducklings waddled through the hallways while excited students watched and cheered them on. This beloved tradition is always a highlight of the spring.
Our Grade 6 students completed their final Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) this week, finishing with the Mathematics exam. We are incredibly proud of the effort, perseverance, and growth they have demonstrated throughout the year.
Students also enjoyed our final Healthy Hunger lunch of the school year from Boardwalk, choosing from hamburgers, chicken fingers, and fries. Thank you to our School Council and volunteers for helping make these special lunch days possible throughout the year.
Looking Ahead to Next Week
The final week of school is filled with exciting activities and celebrations:
