This week at school, students explored learning through Indigenous stories and other cultural perspectives, helping them broaden their understanding of different traditions, storytelling styles, and customs. These experiences encouraged students to think about the importance of stories in sharing knowledge, history, and cultural values. Alongside this learning, students also spent time practicing their basic math facts, building confidence and fluency through games, activities, and collaborative learning in the classroom.

We are also looking forward to warmer weather next week, which will allow students to spend more time enjoying outdoor learning and play during recess and lunch.

We would like to extend a thank you to the parents who were able to attend our School Council meeting this week. During the meeting, we shared information about our School Development Plan, including some of our key goals and priorities for supporting student learning and well-being. We also reviewed information related to school fees. We truly appreciate the thoughtful feedback and ideas that were shared, as parent voice plays an important role in helping guide our planning and decision-making.

Next week will be an exciting one for many of our students. Ms. Flanigan’s Grade 3 class will be heading to Zoo School, where students will participate in hands-on learning experiences connected to animals, habitats, and conservation. Students have been preparing in class and are excited to extend their learning through this unique opportunity.

Our Grade 6 students will also be heading to Camp Chief Hector for an overnight outdoor education experience in the Rocky Mountains. This trip provides students with opportunities to build independence, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and participate in activities such as hiking, environmental learning, and outdoor exploration. The students are very excited for this memorable experience.

A huge thank you goes to Ms. Tucker, Mrs. Stringer, Mrs. Johnston, and Mrs. Laney for volunteering their time and putting in the extra effort required to plan and support this trip. Experiences like these take a great deal of preparation, and we appreciate the commitment of our staff to providing these meaningful opportunities for students.

Finally, this is a reminder for families to sign up for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on March 19 and 20. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, discuss their learning, and celebrate their progress. A School Messenger will be sent out shortly with additional details and instructions on how to sign up for a time.

We look forward to another great week of learning ahead.
