This week our Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, and 3 students participated in swimming lessons. The focus of the lessons was water safety, including practicing safe entries and exits, floating, and building confidence in the water. Students did a wonderful job listening to the instructors and encouraging one another as they tried new skills. It was great to see their confidence grow throughout the week. On the final day, students were excited to try the waterslide, which was a highlight for many.
In the classroom, students continued their learning across several subject areas. Some classes explored topics related to space, learning about planets and our solar system. Other students had the opportunity to learn how to make bannock, connecting their learning to culture and hands-on experiences. In literacy, students practiced annotating pieces of writing to support reading comprehension, learning how to identify key ideas and think more deeply about the texts they read.
Looking ahead to next week, we will have Fun Lunch on Thursday featuring Edo Japan. We would also like to invite all parents and caregivers to attend our School Council meeting on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will include our School Engagement presentation, where we will be sharing information about our school priorities and inviting parent perspectives as we consider decisions related to school focus areas and potential fees for next year. Your input is valued and appreciated, and we hope many of you are able to attend.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
