This week our Grade 4, 5, and 6 students put on a wonderful performance showcasing all of their hard work and talent. Families and staff enjoyed listening to students play the handbells, recorders, drums, and ukuleles, along with watching a dance performance. It was evident how much time, effort, and practice the students put into preparing for the performance, and they should be very proud of themselves. Thank you to our staff and in particular, Ms. Laney, for supporting students and helping make the evening such a success.
We were also fortunate to welcome Sandra Manyfeathers to our school this week. Students participated in meaningful learning on the land while exploring Blackfoot language and culture through stories, songs, games, and activities. Sandra is an incredibly engaging presenter, and students were captivated by her teachings and enthusiasm. The beautiful weather made the experience even more special, and we are very hopeful that we will be able to continue this valuable learning opportunity with her again next year.
Looking ahead to next week, our Grade 6 students will be visiting Harold Panabaker School for a tour on May 13. Students will have the opportunity to explore the school, learn about programming and extracurricular opportunities, and begin preparing for the exciting transition to junior high next year.
Our School Council meeting will take place virtually on May 12 at 6:00 p.m. A meeting link will be sent home to families. We encourage parents and guardians to join us as we discuss upcoming events, school initiatives, and ways to support our students and community. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
Our Kindergarten students and students in our EES program are also very excited for their upcoming trip to Telus Spark on Thursday, May 14. Students will have the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, participate in hands-on learning experiences, and discover science and technology in a fun and engaging environment. We know this will be a memorable experience for our students and a wonderful way to connect classroom learning to the world around them.
Please note that Friday, May 15 is a non-instructional day, giving students an extra-long weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, May 19 at 8:00 a.m.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
