It was a spooky week filled with lots of Halloween fun and excitement! Our annual pumpkin carving contest brought out so much creativity, with pumpkins transformed into everything from witches and spiders to the ever-popular 101 Dalmatians. It was wonderful to see the imagination and effort that went into each creation. We also enjoyed a Halloween costume parade for students who wanted to participate. There were lots of fantastic costumes and plenty of smiles as we celebrated together!
Alongside all the Halloween excitement, there was lots of great learning happening throughout the school. Students continued to explore strategies for regulating themselves and getting ready to learn, while others were busy developing new multiplication strategies and building their mathematical thinking. We also had a special visit in our specialized programs from Kajun, a therapy dog, who arrived dressed in his own Halloween costume! He certainly added some extra excitement to the week.
Looking Ahead
We have a very exciting and busy week ahead as we welcome the Trickster Theatre company to EMJ! Thanks to the support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and our wonderful School Council, every class will have the opportunity to work with the artists to develop their own performance. Students will be exploring their creativity, collaborating with classmates, building confidence and bringing their ideas to life through drama and movement. After a week of hard work and preparation, students will have the opportunity to showcase what they have created during a special whole-school performance on Friday morning. We are looking forward to seeing their creativity shine and sharing in the excitement!
We are also excited to welcome Ms. Eadie, our new Library Assistant! Ms. Eadie will be taking over from Ms. Belise, who has accepted a new position at another school. While we are certainly sad to say goodbye to Ms. B and will miss having her in our library, we wish her all the very best in her new role. We are also looking forward to welcoming Ms. Eadie to our EMJ community in a different way and having her help keep our library a welcoming and engaging place for our students.
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another week filled with creativity, learning and lots of fun at EMJ!
