A Week of Gratitude at EMJ

As we look toward the Thanksgiving weekend, we are taking time to reflect on all the things we are grateful for, and at EMJ, our students are at the top of that list! They bring curiosity, kindness, and enthusiasm to our school each day, and we feel so fortunate to be part of their learning journey.

We are thankful for the partnerships we share with our families, working together to help every student discover their strengths, build confidence, and experience success. We are grateful for our School Council, whose time and dedication create wonderful opportunities and memorable experiences for our students. We are also thankful for our teachers, who bring learning to life through creativity, engaging lessons, and the care they show their students each day. Most of all, we are grateful for our EMJ community and the many ways we come together to support one another. It truly takes a community to help every child thrive!

Our Grade 4, 5, and 6 students also had a fantastic time participating in Alien Inline Skating this week! It was wonderful to see students building their confidence, developing their balance and coordination, and challenging themselves on wheels. For some students, this was their very first experience with inline skating, and they showed courage and determination as they learned new skills. Others were excited to return to the activity and demonstrate the skills they had developed. It was great to see students encouraging one another, trying their best, and celebrating their progress. What a fun way to stay active while learning something new!

We had a great week at school, including our first Healthy Hunger lunch of the year! These lunches are a wonderful way to offer families a convenient option while bringing a little extra excitement to lunchtime. There will be more Healthy Hunger opportunities throughout the year, so please check our school calendar for upcoming dates and details.

Coming Up at EMJ

  • School Council Meeting – Tuesday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m. We welcome families to join us either in person at the school or virtually. Please watch for a message with the link and additional details. School Council is a wonderful way to connect with other families, share ideas, and help shape the experiences and opportunities available to our students.
  • Grade 3 Field Trip to Heritage Park – Our Grade 3 students will be heading out on their first field trip of the school year! Heritage Park offers a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with Alberta’s history and explore what life was like in the past. We look forward to hearing about the discoveries they make and the connections they bring back to the classroom.

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, we hope all of our families have an opportunity to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy the people and moments that matter most. Whether you are gathering with family, connecting with friends, enjoying the outdoors, or simply taking some time to relax, we wish you a wonderful and restful weekend.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great week of learning, growing, and building community at EMJ. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at EMJ!
