What a difference a week can make! We started off enjoying some beautiful fall weather and ended with a little taste of winter and our first snowfall. Calgary certainly likes to keep us guessing! As we head into the colder months, please remember to send your child dressed for the ever-changing weather. Warm coats, hats, mittens and appropriate footwear will help ensure everyone can enjoy outdoor play comfortably.

It was another busy week of learning at EMJ! Students explored different landforms, got creative with some spooky Halloween writing, and enjoyed playing 4 Square during PE and recess. There has been lots of creativity, activity and excitement around the school as we get closer to Halloween!

Next Week: A Little Halloween Fun!

We have a very exciting week ahead, with lots of opportunities for students to celebrate and enjoy some Halloween fun!

• Pumpkin Carving Contest: Each class will be getting creative and carving a pumpkin for our school-wide contest. A big thank you to our wonderful School Council for generously donating the pumpkins. We can't wait to see what our classes come up with!
• School Dance: Our first school dance of the year is happening next week! This is always a student favourite, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy some music, dancing and time together. Families are welcome to come in costume. Please ensure costumes are school appropriate (no weapons, or masks). All children must be accompanied by an adult who will remain responsible for supervising them throughout the event.
• Halloween Costume Parade: On Friday, students will have the opportunity to show off their costumes as they parade through the classrooms. We always enjoy seeing the creativity and excitement this brings! If you would prefer that your child not participate in Halloween activities, please reach out to their classroom teacher. We are happy to arrange an alternative activity.
• School Picture Retakes: Wednesday will be picture retake day for families who would like their child's photo retaken.

It is shaping up to be a fun and slightly spooky week at EMJ! We are looking forward to seeing the creativity, smiles and Halloween spirit throughout the school. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for helping us make these special school experiences possible.

Have a wonderful weekend, and stay warm!
