What a wonderful short week of learning!
Although this was a short week, our students packed in lots of learning, practising, and connecting with one another. Classrooms were busy with students continuing to build their routines and expectations while getting to know their teachers and classmates.
We saw students practising their counting skills using a variety of objects, writing about some of their favourite things, learning new games, and making new friends. It has been wonderful to see the excitement and curiosity students bring to their learning each day!
School Council Meeting – Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
We look forward to welcoming families to our first School Council meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place here at Ethel M Johnson School. If you are interested in being involved, sharing ideas, or learning more about how you can support our school community, we would love to see you there!
Terry Fox Run
Next week, we will also be participating in our annual Terry Fox Run. This is always a special and exciting day for our school community as students come together to celebrate Terry's legacy, learn about perseverance and courage, and raise funds to support cancer research.
We encourage families to support this important cause in whatever way they are able. More information about fundraising and the event will be shared with families.
Preparing for Changing Weather
As we move into fall, we want to remind families about the importance of sending students to school dressed appropriately for the weather. This time of year can be unpredictable, with sunshine, wind, rain, and cooler temperatures all possible in a single day!
Please help your child come prepared with:
- A jacket or sweater for cooler mornings.
- Weather-appropriate footwear.
- Layers that can be added or removed throughout the day.
- A raincoat or other weather protection when needed.
Our students spend time outside each day, and being comfortable and prepared helps them enjoy recess and outdoor learning to the fullest.
