What a fantastic first week of school! It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces, excited students, and lots of positive energy throughout the school. Our halls have been filled with laughter, new friendships, and the excitement that comes with starting a new school year.
Our students have done an amazing job settling into their classrooms and learning the routines of their new school year. Teachers have been spending lots of time getting to know their students—their interests, strengths, personalities, and what makes them unique—while also establishing classroom expectations and routines that will help everyone feel safe, successful, and ready to learn.
We wrapped up our first week with a Welcome Back Assembly, and it was definitely a highlight! We had some of our talented teachers take the stage to play a song on the recorder, followed by the students joining in with a very enthusiastic rendition of “We Will, We Will Rock School!” It was a fun way to celebrate being back together and start the year with a little school spirit.
Building Our School Community
As we head into our second week, teachers will continue to spend time explicitly teaching and practicing routines and expectations. Just as importantly, we will begin focusing on one of our major themes for the year: building community and creating a strong sense of belonging.
We want every student to know:
“I belong here. I am known. I am valued. I have something important to contribute.”
Throughout the coming weeks, students will have opportunities to work together, get to know one another, celebrate their strengths, and learn how each person contributes to making our school community a great place to be. We will also be encouraging students to recognize and appreciate the different strengths, perspectives, interests, and personalities that make our school community unique.
School Council – Tuesday at 6:00 PM
Our first School Council meeting will take place on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. We warmly welcome all parents and guardians who would like to attend. School Council is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families, learn more about what is happening at the school, share ideas, and be part of building our school community.
Thank you for helping us make such a positive start to the school year. We are looking forward to everything this year will bring and to working together with you to support your children as they learn, grow, and build connections.
